Five Year Reunion!

Hey everyone! The five year reunion is TENTATIVELY scheduled for Friday, July 30, 2-5 p.m. at the High School Cafeteria. (I'm still not sure about it, we are up against another class for the Cafeteria, so times may change.) We are going to have a late lunch, have some fun, then you can go to the parade and rodeo if you want. The cost is going to be $5 a person (children are negotiable). I will need an RSVP to know how much food to get. What I need you all to do is get the word out! It's going to be hard to get a hold of everyone, the best way will be to tell everyone you know from Preston and hope that everyone will hear about it. Please don't be offended if I don't personally get a hold of you and you hear about this from someone else....it's not intentional! I would love it if everyone came! A more solidified schedule for the reunion will be posted shortly....

To RSVP:
Send $5 (per person) to Sonnie Humpherys 240 E. 400 N. #3 Logan, UT 84321 with your name and how many people are coming with you. You could also send a little note about what you have been up to the past five years. (If you don't RSVP, there may not be enough food...and those on the list will get their food first...so please RSVP so you won't starve!)

Nathan Burton

After high school I went to BYU for a semester, then went on a mission to Wisconsin and Upper Michigan where I was able to serve in everything from inner-city ghetto to the most remote hillbilly forests imaginable. After I came home I went to Utah State and was planning on studying chemical engineering, but decided that wasn't the thing for me so I'm now studying political science with plans to attend law school after I graduate in 2012. I was married in May, 2009 in the Bountiful Temple to the most wonderful girl ever, Joanna, who is from Taylorsville, UT. Jo is studying elementary education and sometimes we have fun doing her school projects together. Sometimes we get to go snowmobiling and hiking, but time and money limit us a lot. We love changes (monotony is no fun) are both excited about moving somewhere new and different when I go to law school. If anyone is interested in going on a hike or just chilling, let me know!

Life since graduation has been an adventure, most of it has been dancing. I have learned tahitian dancing, clogging, ballroom, jazz, and latin dancing, later became the latin dance instructor at BYU-I. I still do sign language and have taught at 3 different schools so far, I've traveled a lot and have met many different people, but no where is like Preston and the friendships there.

I guess the most important update is I met my match Jonathan Carstens, we were brought together through our sign language (he learned ASL on his mission), and we haven't been apart since. Jon and I got married November 22, 2008 and we are expecting our first child Febuary 1, 2010

We are managers of an apartment complex, he also works at Applebees and I work at an entertainment center. I also do wedding videography and photography on the side. I graduated with my associates and Jon is working on his Bachelor's in Biology, and then we will head off to medical school. We currently live in Rexburg, Idaho.

Well lets see after high school I lived in franklin with my parents for a few years and worked my butt off so I could save up some money to move up to Twin Falls, Id. In the process of that I fell in love with a very handsome man named Brian. We moved up to Twin Falls in july of 2007 and just worked some more. In August of 2008 I started my general classes at the College of Southern Idaho (CSI). At that time I still had full intensions of becoming an RN, but then I did some job shadowing and I fell in love with Surgical Technology. So I started pursuing that and changed my major. In the spring of 2009 I applied for the program and got accepted in june!!!! On July 11, 2009 I married the man of my dreams, enjoyed a brief honeymoon and then it was back to work. On August 24th I will be starting the Surgical Tech program and I will graduate from the program in July of 2010. After I graduate we plan to move back to Cache Valley and settle down and start a family.

Since I have last seen all of you I have moved to Logan. I am trying to find a program to get into for Graphic Design or Photography. I am currently working on a book. I have been working on it for about six months now but right now I have temporary writer's block. I work at a a privately owned call center answering phones for businesses located all over Utah and the United States. I have worked there for almost two years now. Prior to that I worked for The Department of Workforce Services. I did an internship there. It was a lot of fun. The reason I chose this picture is because my brother Leo flew here from Arizona and stayed with me for almost two months. He has since gone home but plans to be moving back soon. Life for me is good right now. I take a lot of pictures of just random things. I love taking pictures and one day it will be my career.

Something a little different

So I have a better idea. Let's have everybody email me (sonnierae.h@gmail.com) a picture of yourself (and family, dog, cat, boat, bike, whatevs) , a little bit about what you have been up to the past 4.5 years, and maybe a message to everyone if you want. I'll post whatever you email me on the blog. This way it will be easier than adding a billion contributors. It will be fun to see what everyone has been doing! I'll go first.....

I started USU in the fall of 2005 and a few years later finally decided on a major. I just graduated last spring with a dual major in Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies. I will be teaching second grade at our good old Pioneer Elementary in Preston this fall. I got married March 1, 2008 to Mitchel Humpherys who is from Providence, UT. He has about 1.5 years left at USU in Computer Engineering, then we are off to have an adventure somewhere glamorous I'm sure, where he will complete his masters degree. We live in Logan and love playing the wii, going camping, and participating in midnight Burger King runs. If anyone is living in Logan or close to it, let's hang out!!!
